Michaela is the Head of Communications at Tusk Ventures where she works directly with the Fund’s portfolio companies across a variety of industries – telehealth, fintech, transportation, cannabis, insurtech, gaming – not to just build brand awareness, but to aggressively use earned media to reach specific regulatory outcomes.
She joined Tusk Ventures from Nestlé, where she managed corporate and crisis communications in the U.S. There she was responsible for overseeing and growing the company’s digital strategy and worked directly with the Public Affairs team to build strategic partnerships. She previously led strategic communications at The ONE Campaign, Bono’s anti-poverty advocacy organization. Her work at ONE took her around the world, campaigning in Africa, Europe and North America. She began her career at Burson-Marsteller. Outside of work she sits on the Community Board of WNYC, Brooklyn Community Board 6 and is an Innovation Council member at Eleanor’s Legacy, which recruits, trains and funds progressive female candidates across New York State.
Michaela was named as one of the Top Women in PR by PRNews in 2020.
A native of Alexandria, Virginia, Michaela is based in New York City and is a graduate of Colgate University, where she double majored in Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies.
